Why do I need a Battery Marvel?
As advanced as most vehicles are today, they still won't tell you when your
battery needs to be replaced. If your battery is more than 3 years old, you run an increased risk of
being stranded. A faulty charging
system can also leave you with a dead battery. Battery Marvel analyzes your vehicle's battery and charging system and alerts you to significant performance degradation so you can act before it's too late.
Is Battery Marvel easy to install?
Battery Marvel can be installed in most vehicles in less
than five minutes. There are only 2 wires to connect.
Will Battery Marvel drain my battery?
Although Battery Marvel draws a small current in order to monitor the health of your battery, it does not shorten the effective service life of your battery.
How does it work?
Battery Marvel monitors the condition of your battery 24-hours a day. It issues a loud alert and glows yellow or red if your battery begins
to show signs that it may require charging or replacement. Battery Marvel will also alert you if your battery is not charging properly.
How do I stop/reset the periodic reminder "chirp" after an alert is issued?
The periodic reminder chirp stops automatically when the offending condition is removed (for example, when you connect a battery charger to a battery which is low on charge). Starting or switching your vehicle off will also cancel the reminder. Of course, a new alert will be issued if the condition re-appears.
Battery Marvel is making a very faint "click" sound every 15 seconds or so....
This is a "pre-alert", meaning Battery Marvel has detected a condition which is out-of-spec for the current temperature. Examples include low charge level, charging voltage too high / too low or excessive drain on the battery. If the condition persists for several minutes, an alert will be issued.
How much time do I have to replace my battery before I'm stranded?
It varies significantly from one vehicle/battery to the next and isn't possible to predict. We advise that you have your battery and charging system evaluated at the earliest opportunity to reduce the likelihood of being stranded.
Do you have a guarantee?
Yes. If your battery fails and Battery Marvel did not warn you ahead of time, return your Battery Marvel to us and we'll replace it absolutely free.
Do I need to get a new Battery Marvel when I replace my battery?
No, it is not necessary to replace Battery Marvel when you replace your battery. We suggest, however, that you replace Battery Marvel if you change vehicles, since it records statistics and history about the vehicle it is installed in. Keeping Battery Marvel in your old vehicle may also add to its resale value.
Are there battery failures that Battery Marvel can't predict?
Yes. Sometimes batteries fail suddenly, without any warning. Battery Marvel predicts many failures before they occur, but no device can predict all battery failures.
Will Battery Marvel work on my hybrid or electric vehicle?
No. Battery Marvel is designed only for traditional 12 volt lead-acid batteries and will be damaged by high voltage hybrid or electric vehicle electrical systems.
Can I extend/lengthen Battery Marvel's connecting wires?
We do not recommend this for safety reasons.
If you decide to modify or extend the provided connecting wires, a 1-amp in-line fuse should be placed on the positive supply wire as close as possible to the battery for safety reasons. 18 gauge or larger automotive-rated insulated wire should be used. Care must be taken to ensure the insulation/wire will not be damaged by heat, abrasion, or contact with metal or moving parts.
Will Battery Marvel work on my boat, scooter, motorcycle, etc?
In most cases, yes. Battery Marvel is compatible with vehicles using a 12 volt lead-acid battery and a 12 volt electrical system, including most cars, trucks, scooters, boats, motorcycles, snowmobiles, personal watercraft, etc. Battery Marvel is not compatible with 24 volt (diesel) electrical systems, hybrids, all-electric vehicles or any other non-12 volt system.
